Our method
How a number becomes traceable: report, script, file, table.
Not a claim. A traceable number.
We show where every number in the table comes from — and where it isn't confirmed yet.
One file, one source
Numbers come from a manufacturer's or agency's report; the platform does not recalculate or rewrite them.
Import without manual typing
A script reads the source spreadsheet and writes the page's data file. No number is typed by hand — the pipeline itself rules out a transcription error.
One source for the whole set
The report link sits under the whole table, not next to each row: the same number can't be attributed to two different sources.
Not measured means shown as unknown
Where a substance has no confirmed unit, the platform says so directly instead of guessing.
The path of one number
The official publication reports a measurement at 300 °C and at 800 °C.
scripts/import-hphc.py reads the report file and does not touch a single digit by hand.
The result is a file in the repository; changing a number requires re-running the script on a new report.
The reader sees the same number as the source file's cell — and a difference computed from it.
Where the method stops
The brand book requires methodology and its limits to be disclosed with equal weight (p. 9). Here is what this platform can and cannot say.
Categories, not brands
A comparison is between types of product, not between particular goods or manufacturers. A specific item can differ from the category it belongs to.
Findings are tied to their conditions
A measured value holds for the conditions the study describes. Carrying it over to other conditions is an assumption, and the platform does not make it for you.
A model, not a measurement at every point
The manufacturer's report describes some numbers as a model estimate rather than a direct measurement at the stated temperature — the source file says so itself.
One source for the numbers
The table's values come from a single manufacturer's report. Independent verification needs a second source, which doesn't exist yet for this data.
Units aren't always confirmed right away
Until a unit is confirmed against the publication, the platform says so directly and shows only a ratio, not an absolute difference.
Translation can lag
When a translation is missing, the reference-language text is shown and the substitution is marked. The meaning is the same; the wording may be a step behind.

The platform is educational. It is not medical, legal, financial or technical advice, and it does not know your circumstances.
The file is visible in full
The source file and row count are named right on the table; data isn't published partially or hand-edited after import.
